I’m writing again!
It is such a joy to be back in the process of storying and character development. Last year, around this time, I was finishing up my first young teens book, The Quest: Ariana’s Tale.
To be honest, while I was writing I couldn’t see anything else coming from it, and was simply content to focus on this project as a stand-alone novel. Jump to October. I’m sitting at the dinner table with my younger sister, who is also a huge lover of stories and has read my book, and she asks me the one question that may ignite a flame in any author’s soul…“what happens next?”
At first, I just shrugged and told her I would be moving on to something else, something new and fresh, but internally the wheels were turning. The more I sat with it, the more I realized that Evander’s journey wasn’t over yet. There was more to his story that needed to be told.
As I began to jot out notes, and play with the idea of a sequel, I reconnected to my male protagonist. I felt the burden in his heart to bring reconciliation to his family and redemption for the sins of the past generations. His identity needed to be rediscovered. As a prince of the realm, as a son of a greater nation. And then there was Ariana. A little older, a little wiser perhaps, and of course we can’t forget her charm…she too would have a role to play in what’s coming.
I’m so thankful to each of you who have been a part of my author’s journey so far, and to those who are just joining in. Feel free to check out The Quest and get know Evander before the rest of his tale comes forth.
