Lady Day awakened to a world of eerie calm,
cold shadows from the Knight still clinging to her.
Cast upon the land a haunting hue,
from dreams she could neither keep not cure.
A soft whisper of hope ignited within her breast,
and upon the wings of the dawn she arose.
The gaze of onlookers she painfully met,
to triumph over death throes.
The space between them a chasm, a fjord,
she sought to eclipse and this bring salvation.
At sun’s break, she would pull him through,
two times joining as one, anew.
Heralding to the Knight she reached out
her hand towards his just to grasp.
But the stroke stretched past and soon she tumbled,
falling forward into the light,
whilst he slipped slowly back into darkness.
